Why are Buyers Acquiring Creative Automation Platforms? and Where is the Next Wave of Acquisitions?

In late 2024/early 2025, Mediaocean agreed to acquire Innovid for approximately $500 million, merging Innovid’s CTV and video advertising capabilities with Flashtalking’s creative personalization and optimization tools to build a stronger omnichannel platform.

Similarly, the Whalar Group acquired The Business of Creativity for about $20 million to expand creator services and education, Publicis Groupe’s acquisition of BR Media Group illustrates how global holding companies are strengthening influencer and content technology offerings as part of larger digital and identity-driven marketing stacks.

Looking ahead, M&A in creative automation and creative intelligence is expected to focus on cross-channel capabilities (especially CTV/streaming and retail media), data-enabled performance layers, and tools that bridge generative AI content with media execution workflows.
